His Holiness Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji
His Holiness Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji is the pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Mysore, India. Sri Swamiji is renowned for His healing music and is considered by His followers to be a divine guide who promotes the ancient Vedic traditions.
Sri Swamiji was born on May 26, 1942 in Mekedatu, a small village near Bengaluru, India. He was initiated into spiritual life during his childhood by his mother, Mata Jayalakshmi. Even as a young boy, Sri Swamiji displayed extraordinary insights into the supreme knowledge of the causation of existence and the purpose of human life.
Sri Swamiji believes and propagates the message of universal love and wellbeing without discrimination. His teachings are not confined to any doctrine or faith; instead, they are universal and relevant to day-to-day life. He advocates comprehensive synthesis of all paths and stresses the values of sacrifice and service towards the upliftment of humankind. Sri Swamiji adapted music as a medium of communication. He is a great composer of Bhajans or religious hymns and songs. Sri Swamiji has written more than 2000 songs in Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi, and English in praise of various deities. Endowed with a gifted voice, Sri Swamiji’s bhajan sessions enthrall a musical layman and a Carnatic scholar alike. His Music for Healing and Meditation concerts are world renowned having taken place in historic venues such as Kennedy Center (Washington, D.C.), Syndey Opera House (Australia), and Royal Albert Hall (London, UK) to name a few. The divine music at these concerts has impacted the lives of many devotees and music enthusiasts. He developed a Yoga technique called Datta Kriya Yoga and teaches Mauna, a method of silencing the mind, worldwide.
Avadhoota Datta Peetham is an international spiritual, cultural, and social welfare organization established by Sri Swamiji in 1966. Sri Swamiji’s universal vision and deep compassion for the upliftment of humankind has inspired Datta Peetham to run a vast variety of programs, activities, and projects towards the enrichment of human life.
Additionally, Sri Swamiji has founded a wide variety of institutional networks throughout India to help humanity. Several social welfare programs such as medical dispensaries, hospitals, schools, homes for the destitute elderly, and other developmental programs particularly for the disadvantaged groups in society are being run under His
leadership. Sri Swamiji also holds thirteen Guinness World Records for His efforts towards spreading global peace. As an avid environmental enthusiast, Sri Swamiji built the Shuka Vana aviary in Mysore, India, a conservation, and rehabilitation center for rare species of birds. He also established the state-of-the-art Kishkinda Moolika bonsai garden in Mysore as well, which houses a wide variety of unique bonsai plants.
Sri Swamiji envisioned the Gītā Mahāyajña program to empower children, youth & adults with the life transforming teachings from the Bhagavad Gītā. Bala Datta is a Child Enrichment Program, started under guidance of Sri Swamiji. Bala Datta classes are conducted in several cities around the world.
Sri Swamiji’s mission has required Him to undertake over 150 foreign trips to many countries where His Holiness has established centers in Australia, Canada, Germany, Malaysia, Switzerland, Trinidad, UK, and USA.
